Online application forms reject a photo or signature that is the wrong pixel size or outside a file-size range such as 20-50 KB. Choose your file, pick the form, adjust the crop, and press Make photo. The tool makes a JPEG at exactly the width and height shown and lowers the JPEG quality step by step until the file fits under the maximum KB, keeping the best quality that fits.

Presets marked with a notification name use the numbers from that body's own instructions, checked in October 2026. Where the instructions give only a KB range and no pixel size, the preset says the pixel size is our choice, and you can change it. Rules change between recruitment cycles, so compare with the notification you are applying under; if it differs, type its numbers into the boxes.

Presets and where the numbers come from

  • IBPS (PO/MT and other IBPS-run recruitments, 2025 notifications): photo 200 x 230 pixels (preferred), 20-50 KB; signature 140 x 60 pixels (preferred), 10-20 KB, black ink on white paper, not in capital letters.
  • UPSC (online application instructions on upsconline.nic.in): photo JPG 20-200 KB, white background, face covering at least 75% of the photo, both ears visible. No pixel size is stated. Signature: sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper in black ink, scan into one JPG of 20-100 KB, 350-500 pixels.
  • SSC (CGL 2025 notice): the application captures your photo live through the camera, so no photo upload is needed. Signature JPEG 10-20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide x 2.0 cm high. The preset uses 450 x 150 px (3:1).
  • NEET UG (NTA Information Bulletin 2026): photo JPG/JPEG 10-200 KB, colour or black and white, white background, face about 80% of the image including ears, no mask; signature JPG/JPEG 10-100 KB. No pixel size is stated; the preset uses 413 x 531 px.
  • 35 x 45 mm: a common passport and visa photo size, 413 x 531 pixels at 300 dpi. It is listed as a common size, not as any office's rule. Indian passport applicants are photographed at the Passport Seva Kendra.

Getting the photo accepted

File size and pixels are only part of it. Every notice above asks for a recent photo, a plain light or white background, a face that fills most of the frame, and no dark glasses or caps. Use Zoom and the two position sliders so your face fills about three quarters of the preview for UPSC and NEET.

Small, plain images such as a signature on white paper compress very well: at IBPS's preferred 140 x 60 pixels a clean signature can come out at only a few KB, under the 10 KB minimum, even at full quality. IBPS lists that pixel size as preferred, so by default the tool then tries a larger size in the same shape (up to 4 times) and tells you when it did. Untick the box if your form needs the exact pixels. The tool never pads a file with hidden data to reach a minimum.

How to resize a photo for an exam form

  1. Choose the photo or scanned signature (JPG or PNG) from your phone or computer.
  2. Pick the form from the list, or Custom and type the size and KB range from your notification.
  3. Use Zoom and the sliders until the preview is framed the way the form asks.
  4. Press Make photo, check the size shown, and download the JPG.

FAQ

How do I resize a photo to 20-50 KB for IBPS?
Choose IBPS photo. It makes a 200 x 230 pixel JPEG and lowers the quality until it is at most 50 KB, then checks it is not below 20 KB.
What size photo does UPSC want?
UPSC's instructions ask for a JPG between 20 KB and 200 KB with a white background and the face covering at least 75% of the photo. They do not give a pixel size.
Do I need to upload a photo for SSC?
Not for SSC CGL 2025: the application captures your photo live with the camera. You upload only the signature, 10-20 KB.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser with the canvas feature. The photo never reaches our server.
Why is my signature below the minimum KB?
A clean signature at a small pixel size compresses to a few KB. With the box ticked, the tool tries a larger size in the same shape until the file reaches the minimum, and says so.
Can it open iPhone HEIC photos?
Most browsers cannot. Convert the photo with HEIC to JPG first, then resize it here.
