Resize an image to passport size
Passport and visa photos fail for size more often than for anything else. One country wants about 35 by 45 millimetres, another wants a 2 by 2 inch square, and the pixel width they ask for online is different again. Look up the spec on the form you are filing before you resize. A generic small square is not a passport photo.
Resize Image sets the pixel width and height. Lock the ratio only if the required size has the same shape as your crop. If the bureau wants a taller frame than your snapshot, crop to that shape first so the resizer does not stretch the face. A stretched portrait is a common reason a counter rejects an otherwise sharp photo.
Background rules, glasses, and how much of the shoulders show are not something a resizer can fix. This tool changes dimensions. If the backdrop has to be plain and yours is a kitchen, remove the background or retake the photo. The file is uploaded for the resize and discarded afterward.
Match the stated size
- Read the width and height on the application, in pixels or in millimetres.
- Crop the photo to that shape, then open Resize Image and set those dimensions.
- Download and check the pixel size in the file properties before you print or upload.

FAQ
- Does this guarantee the photo will be accepted?
- No. It sets the size you enter. You still have to meet the pose and background rules on the form.
- Should I resize or compress first?
- Resize to the required pixels first. Compress only if the upload is then over the file-size cap.
