Convert HEIC to JPG free

Open HEIC to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC to keep them smaller. Windows laptops, government upload buttons, and older school portals often refuse that file and ask for JPG instead. Renaming the file from .heic to .jpg does not convert it. The bytes are still HEIC, and the form fails as soon as it opens them.

HEIC to JPG reads the photo and writes a real JPEG. Use it when a site says the format is not supported, when a desktop app shows a blank thumbnail, or when you need to attach the picture to an email client that only previews JPG and PNG. If the JPG is then too heavy for the same form, run that JPG through the image compressor. Conversion and compression are separate steps.

You do not need an account. The photo is uploaded over HTTPS for the conversion and discarded after the response. Keep your original HEIC on the phone until you have checked that the JPG looks right.

Turn HEIC into JPG

  1. Open HEIC to JPG and choose the photo from your phone or computer.
  2. Download the JPG and open it once to confirm the picture is there.
  3. If the form also has a size cap, compress that JPG before you upload it.

FAQ

Why did renaming the file to .jpg fail?
The name is not the format. The converter has to rewrite the image as JPEG.
Does this work on a burst of iPhone photos?
Convert the photos you need to upload. Check one JPG first so you know the form accepts it.
