Convert PNG to JPG free
PNG is the wrong container for most photographs. It keeps every pixel losslessly, which is why a phone screenshot or a saved web image can be many megabytes as PNG and a fraction of that as JPEG. Convert PNG to JPG when the picture is a photo and the place you are uploading it wants a smaller file or refuses PNG. Use the image converter, download the JPG, and check it.
Do not convert if you need a transparent background. JPEG has no transparency. A logo or a cut-out product will gain a solid backdrop, usually white or black, and the edges you cared about change. Leave those files as PNG, or compress the PNG, instead of switching format. Screenshots of user interfaces also pick up fuzzy text in JPEG; if the words matter, stay with PNG and resize instead.
Conversion is free and does not ask for an account. The image is uploaded for the request and discarded. If the JPG is still over a form's limit, compress that JPG afterward. Converting and compressing are two steps, and the size you care about is the file you will actually attach.
Save a PNG as JPG
- If the image needs a transparent background, stop and keep the PNG.
- Open the image converter and save a JPEG copy of the photo.
- If it is still too large, compress the JPG and check the file size.

FAQ
- Will the background stay transparent?
- No. JPG cannot store transparency. Keep PNG for logos and cut-outs.
- Is a JPG always smaller?
- For photographs, almost always. For flat graphics and screenshots, PNG can be the smaller and sharper choice.
